How do you get from Izmir Airport to Altinoluk?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Altinoluk it is about 205 km, a drive that on most days takes 2.5–3 hours; of our routes on the gulf, this is the longest. From the airport we head north via Menemen and Aliaga. We pass Ayvalik, Burhaniye and Edremit and round the head of the gulf. Then we follow the northern shore through Akcay, Zeytinli and Gure and arrive in Altinoluk.

After Akcay, Mount Ida (Kazdaglari) draws ever closer to the road. On the last stretch we drive along a narrow strip with the mountain slopes on one side and the sea on the other.

As the drive is long, a break helps, especially if you are travelling with children or older family members. Mention it when you book and we plan the stop and give you the arrival time with it included.

Where do people stay in Altinoluk?

Altinoluk grew up where Mount Ida comes down almost to the sea, so the town stretches along a narrow strip between the slopes and the water. Hotels and holiday flats line the shore, and the remains of the ancient city of Antandros are just outside the town.

For hotels on the seafront, the hotel name is usually all we need. For holiday flats, if you send the estate or building name together with a map pin, we find the building beforehand and set you down at its door.

If you are staying in Gure, between Akcay and Altinoluk, or past Altinoluk in Kucukkuyu on the Canakkale side, the fare for those addresses is different; send us your address and we tell you the fare in advance.

Because Altinoluk also belongs to Edremit, addresses here often say “Edremit”. If your address reads “Edremit, Altinoluk”, the fare on this page applies to you. Akcay and Edremit town, further into the gulf, and Burhaniye on the southern shore have their own prices.

Staying in a Mount Ida village

In the Kazdaglari villages above Altinoluk there are stone houses, olive groves and small guesthouses. If you choose to stay in one, the last part of the journey needs a little planning of its own: the village roads are narrow and winding, and some houses are reached by a steep climb.

We drive to village addresses too. Just share the village name and the location of your gate or the village square; we check the road in advance and bring the vehicle as close as the road allows. If your house is on a footpath that no vehicle can drive up and we know this beforehand, we can drop you and your luggage at the most convenient spot.

How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Altinoluk?

Our Altinoluk transfer fare is €170 / ₺9.000 per vehicle, one way. Because the fare is set by vehicle, not by the number of passengers, large families and groups of friends sharing a village house or a holiday flat pay the same. Our Mercedes Vito has room for up to 7 passengers; for 8 or more, message us on WhatsApp and we will plan a second vehicle with you.

There are no other passengers in the vehicle on the way. For a return trip we add two one-way fares. You pay in cash at the end of the ride; we do not take prepayment.

Returning from Altinoluk to Izmir Airport

On the way back we pick you up at the entrance of seafront hotels, and outside the building if you are in a holiday flat. If you are staying in a mountain village, we meet, as on arrival, at a point the vehicle can reach easily, such as the village square.

As the drive is long, we set the pickup time together with you, counting back from your flight and allowing for the length of the drive and your checkout. This time we follow the northern shore to Akcay and Edremit, then continue via Burhaniye and Ayvalik down to Izmir.
