From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Altinova it is about 145 km, and on most days the drive takes 2 hours. Leaving the terminal, we cross to the north side of the city and continue north through Menemen and Aliaga. After the turn-offs for Candarli and Dikili we enter Balikesir province and leave the main road for Altinova before reaching Ayvalik town.
The last stretch runs through olive groves. As we approach Altinova the sea comes back into view and we turn into the streets that run parallel to the beach.
If you are coming with small children or an elderly family member, we can take a short break around the middle of the drive. Just mention it when you book; we work the stop into your arrival time.
Where do people stay in Altinova?
Most of Altinova is made up of holiday homes and summer estates on streets running parallel to the beach. Many families spend the whole summer here; the seafront comes alive in the summer months, while out of season the town becomes very quiet. There are also small hotels and holiday apartments close to the shore.
On the estates, finding the right gate can matter more than the street address itself. When you share the estate name and the location of its entrance while booking, our driver takes you straight to that gate. If you are staying at a hotel or apartment, we check the address before the trip and stop right outside.
Ayvalik town, Cunda and Sarimsakli lie north of Altinova, and for those areas the Ayvalik route fare applies. If your place is somewhere in between, send us the location and we tell you which fare applies before we set off.
Altinova or Altinoluk?
The two names look so alike that they are often mixed up.
Altinova belongs to the Ayvalik district and is the seaside town south of Ayvalik. Altinoluk is a separate resort much further north on the Edremit Gulf, at the foot of the Kaz Mountains (Mount Ida); the drive there is longer and the fare is different. There is also another Altinova on the Sea of Marmara, in Yalova province.
If your booking just says “Altinova”, we confirm with you in a short message which Altinova you mean.
How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Altinova?
Our Altinova transfer fare is €120 / ₺6.600 per vehicle, one way. The fare does not depend on the number of passengers: two of you pay the same as a party of seven with grandparents and grandchildren. Families coming for the whole summer usually have plenty of bags, so if you list your suitcases when booking, we plan the space in the vehicle around them. For eight or more people, we arrange a second vehicle together over WhatsApp.
The vehicle is yours alone for the whole ride. If you book both directions, we add the two one-way fares together. Child seats are free, and you pay in cash when we arrive in Altinova.
Getting back from Altinova to Izmir Airport
For families who spend the summer in Altinova, the return day is often the day the house gets closed up. We pick you up at the door of your holiday home or estate, or at the hotel entrance if you stayed in a hotel.
We agree the pickup time with you based on your flight and the time you need to close up the house. Just send your flight and address; we can plan both directions in one booking. On the way back we take the same road as on arrival, heading south through Aliaga and Menemen to the airport.
